Certified Passive House Designer / Consultant Scholarship

For professionals looking to take their Passive House knowledge to the next level

The pro clima Certified Passivhaus Designer / Consultant Scholarship covers the full cost of the Certified Passivhaus Designer / Consultant course, delivered in association with Australian Passive House education providers.

The course teaches you how to plan and design Passive House buildings, from defining the thermal envelope through to addressing common planning and construction challenges.

Application task

Passive House is based on a systems approach to building performance.

Choose one key principle (i.e. airtightness, thermal insulation, thermal bridge reduction, high-performance windows or mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) and explain how it contributes to a healthy, comfortable, durable and energy-efficient building.

Then tell us:

Why do you believe Passive House is relevant to Australia, and how could you apply this knowledge in your own work?

You can submit a video, written response, images, diagrams or a combination.

Submission guide:
Written response: maximum 1,000 words
Video: maximum 2.5 minutes

Certified Passive House Tradesperson Scholarship

For builders and tradespeople who want to strengthen their practical Passive House skills

The pro clima Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson Scholarship covers the full cost of the Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson course, delivered in association with Australian Passive House education providers.

The course focuses on the practical construction skills needed to meet the Passive House standard, including airtight construction, high-performance insulation and windows, thermal bridges and how these details come together on site.

Application task

A successful Passive House project relies on everyone on site understanding how their work contributes to the performance of the building.

Explain how a tradesperson can contribute to a successful Passive House outcome.

In your response, consider:

  • Identifying the airtightness layer on a building plan
  • Where the building enclosure is most likely to leak air
  • What can be done to prevent air leakage
  • Passive House airtightness targets
  • Construction sequencing
  • Managing and coordinating trades on site

Then tell us about a construction or installation challenge you have faced on site. What did you do to solve it, and what did you learn?
